COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The chancellor of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs has reversed her ruling that a student violated Student Government Association rules by not formally approving funds for a gay and lesbian group's event.
Student body President David Williams neither approved nor vetoed $2,100 for the event, citing personal beliefs. Because he didn't veto it, the money went through after five days.
Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said in December that Williams violated rules requiring student leaders to be objective and nondiscriminatory about funding.
She now says new information convinced her the evidence was insufficient to conclude that Williams broke the rules, though she says his conduct was "troubling."
