DENVER (AP) - Two cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Colorado, state health officials said Thursday.

The victims are a woman in her 30s who went on a cruise to Mexico and spent several days in San Diego and a man in his 40s who is a baggage handler at Denver International Airport, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said.

The man, who lives in Douglas County south of Denver, has been hospitalized but is expected to be released Thursday, said Dr. Ned Calonge (kuh-LANZH'), the department's chief medical officer.

The woman, from Arapahoe County southeast of Denver, hasn't been hospitalized, Calonge said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the number of swine flu cases in the United States has topped 100, with confirmed infections in 11 states. Those totals didn't include Colorado's cases.

The CDC update said there have been 109 cases including 50 in New York, 26 in Texas and 14 in California.

Swine flu has killed one person in the U.S., a toddler from Mexico who died in Texas on a family trip.

The World Health Organization increased its tally of confirmed swine flu cases around the world to 236 from 148.

WHO said most of the new confirmed cases worldwide came from Mexico.

Colorado lawmakers were scheduled to get a briefing from state health officials on swine flu later Thursday. Lawmakers are reviewing their plans to keep the Legislature functioning during an epidemic.

Earlier this week, state health officials cautioned residents to practice good hygiene and to stay home from work and school if they are sick
