In response to the opinion article titled "Saving money is moral," I wanted to take the opportunity to commend you all at the Collegian for putting aside opinions and taking a logical approach to the issue of the bill eliminating the death penalty.

I am a steadfast proponent of the death penalty, but the argument to eliminate it to save money is nothing but frugal responsibility. Even though I would be wary of any legislation that would tread on what I view as fair and just punishment for certain crimes, there is no denying the benefits of increasing the state budget by nearly a million dollars.

I would trade one dead murderer for just one more to be caught any day. Thank you for bringing up the issue and presenting a logical, unbiased analysis of the situation.
