Early Friday morning the university announced that it was to re-open closing Thursday due to severe blizzard conditions.

A university spokesperson said weather and local road conditions were monitored closely throughout the night and into the morning and were final factors in the decision.

"We were making sure that snow removal has taken place and things are safe on campus as well," CSU spokesperson Brad Bohlander said, explaining that university faculty was out driving the streets at 4 a.m. and communicating with the City of Fort Collins emergency management coordinator to ensure the safety of conditions.

He said road conditions were deemed improved and safe from Thursday.

Bohlander said all classes and university scheduled events will proceed as scheduled today. He said individual groups and departments, however, could cancel events at their own discretion.
