Tuerffs and Fountain traveled with other CSU students to Chalmette, a city about 10 miles away from New Orleans, to rebuild and restore houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Most Chalmette residents had inbetween one and 10 feet of water after levees failed to hold up against the category-5 hurricane.
