CSU softball splits opening weekend, 3-3

The CSU softball team started the 2009 season this weekend in Las Cruces, N.M., playing one game against New Mexico State before starting the Hotel Encanto De Las Cruces Tournament.
In the opener against NMSU, the Aggies topped the Rams 9-1 in 5 innings, but CSU bounced back once the tournament started, winning three consecutive games over UMKC, Ohio and Cleveland State.
In Saturday's nightcap, CSU was once again run-ruled by the NMSU Aggies 8-0 in 5 innings.
On Sunday CSU played their final game of the tournament, falling to Ohio State 11-2 in 6 innings.
The Rams currently have a record of 3-3. Their next game is against the University of Tulsa at the aTEN Construction Tournament in Riverside, Calif. That game is on Friday at 10 a.m.
