DENVER (AP) - Colorado Sen. Mark Udall says energy and the environment will be important priorities for the Barack Obama administration.

Udall, a Democrat elected in November, says that creating new policies on energy and the environment goes "hand-in-glove" with rejuvenating the economy and creating jobs.

Udall spoke Tuesday after watching ABM's inaugural speech.

Udall says he's excited about his seat on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee because it gives him a chance to champion comprehensive environmental policies that are already in place in Colorado.

He says Colorado's approach includes promoting renewable energy, energy-efficient technologies and smart electrical grids that deliver power to consumers using digital technologies.
