The CSU Department of Public Safety is alerting the Fort Collins community that it believes a mountain lion is hunting on the Foothills campus. They are advising those in the area to be cautious.
A lion killed a deer at the Colorado State Forest Service nursery on La Porte Avenue west of Overland Trail sometime Monday evening or Tuesday morning, university spokesperson Dell Rae Mollenberg said in a statement.
"It's my understanding that the mountain lion has not been spotted but that the deer carcass was found yesterday," Mollenberg said.
She said that all staff in that area were alerted yesterday.
