At 6:24 a.m., an electrician working at the construction site of the New Dining Commons at 800 W. Pitkin Street reported a fire on the roof, said Patrick Love, a Poudre Fire Authority spokesperson.
The fire, which was contained to an HVAC unit on the roof, was extinguished before 7:30.
"But smoke made it's way into the third floor of the building," Love said. "That's what we're seeing, the HVAC unit."
All workers in the building were evacuated, and no injuries were reported, according to the CSU Police Department.
Five fire engines, 2 trucks, a captain and an investigator arrived in the second wave of response, Love said.
PFA has released no official determination as to what caused the fire.
