Track Recap: track and field break school records

This weekend, the Colorado State track and field team shattered two school records and continued to place themselves among the nation's elite.
The Rams sent some athletes to Palo Alto, Calif., to compete in Stanford's Cardinal Invitational, while others participated at the Modrall Sperling Don Kirby Invitational, in Albuquerque, N.M.
The record-breaking began on the West Coast on Friday night with freshman Janay DeLoach and the long jump.
She leaped 20 feet, 1.75 inches to break the old record of 20-0, set in 1990 by Kelly Delph.
A few states east, junior Josh Glaab destroyed the field in the 5,000-meter run.
A week after winning the 5,000 at the Drake Relays, Glaab continued to bolt by the competition. He finished the race in 13 minutes, 35.49 seconds. His mark breaks both the school and the Mountain West Conference mark of 13:41.58, posted by Mike Klass in 2000.
Glaab's time is the best time in the nation this year.
Back at Stanford, juniors Michelle Carman and Colleen Blair took third and fourth, respectively, in the women's 5,000.
Loree Smith stayed unbeaten in the hammer. She won with a toss of 209-10. Fellow thrower Keela Niemeyer placed second in the discus and third in the shot put and senior pole vaulting stud Christine Ahn won again with a mark of 12-5.5.
Bill Michel and Mike Nicks were the only men to travel to California. Michel finished seventh in the 5,000 in 14:05.43 to qualify for the Midwest Regional Championships. Nicks was the fourth collegian and 14th overall in the 3,000 steeplechase, clocking 9:06.85.
In New Mexico, freshman Drew Morano continued his resurgence from injuries during the indoor season. He won the 400 with a personal best time of 47.26.
CSU had six runners in the 800 field. Brian Kelly was the top Ram, finishing third overall. Behind him were Ryan Lowen (fourth) and Joey Alzola (fifth).
Justin Hazzard placed second in the 400 hurdles, posting a regionally qualifying time of 51.85.
The men's throws also had a solid meet.
James Cale led a pack of Rams from third through sixth in the hammer. Chris Ahlgrim won the javelin and freshman Magnus Lohse won the shot put.
The women in New Mexico were led by senior Katie Yemm, who won the 800. She crossed the tape in 2:13.39. While DeLocah broke the school record in California, three Rams, Tonya Cure, Katie Lloyd and Amanda Huddleston took the top three spots in the long jump in Albuquerque.
