The CSU women's basketball team didn't get much time to celebrate its win over a depleted Wyoming team Saturday before it was brought back to reality with an injury of its own.

Rams forward Katie Borton suffered a torn MCL in practice Monday while preparing for CSU's upcoming game against Brigham Young University on Thursday.

Borton was going for a steal during a scrimmage when she was bumped from behind and came down and heard a pop.

"It's just one of those things," teammate Ashley Augspurger said. "She went up to get the ball and came down wrong."

Borton, a 6-foot sophomore from Washington, has played in every game for the Rams this season and is averaging almost 14 minutes and 4 points per game.

The injury will keep Borton out of the lineup for around three weeks, the remainder of the regular season, but she hopes to be back in time for the Mountain West Conference tournament March 7-10.

"It's always disappointing when you get injured, especially at this point in the season," Borton said. "Injuries happen, though, I'll just have to get through it."

Until now, the Rams have been able to stay relatively injury free, suffering only from the aches and pains that come along with a full schedule. None of the starters have come down with any serious injuries or illnesses. Losing players at this point in the season hurts, though.

CSU had hoped to continue its good luck in keeping players out of the training room and on the floor for the remainder of the season. Depth will be big factor coming down the final stretch of the season, especially with some crucial games coming up against BYU, Utah and UNLV.
