Quitting smoking not as easy as Stephens portrays
Mike Law
First of all, if you don't like being around smokers, then don't hang out with them and try to avoid them. It's not that hard to avoid smokers, and if you don't think you should have to walk a few feet away than you are just lazy.
You are really over-exaggerating when you say that when you step outside to get fresh air you are "bombarded with clouds of poisonous gasses". Gimme a break, try walking about three feet away.
I understand and respect that you obviously don't like smoking, but why don't you respect people's choice to smoke or chew, instead of calling them morons. Also, I think you are going way overboard in exaggerating your point of second-hand smoke.
You told smokers not to "give me that addiction excuse" which makes me wonder how naive you are. It is proven that nicotine is a very highly addictive drug, and is very hard to quit. Also, it is easier than you think for people to start smoking or even chewing. I smoked for a long time and quit three months ago; yet I still crave a cigarette any time I am around someone who is smoking or when I smell it, but I have enough will power not to light one up. How can you tell people not to give you addiction as an excuse to smoke when you have never experienced what it is like to be addicted to tobacco. It is much more difficult to stop smoking or chewing than you make it out to be. Oh yeah, as far as smoking getting banned: ha! good luck, I'll bet that half our politicians and lawmakers are smokers.
Finally, I wish people like you would stop acting like smokers are out to ruin your health; people have a right to smoke if they want to, so get over it.
