Task force to review sex assault reporting

To combat what student government officials said is inadequate investigation of sexual assault cases on campus, the Associate Students of CSU voted to create a new assault task force to examine university data Wednesday night. The Interpersonal Violence Task Force resolution passed 20-3 with four senators passing and, after the university saw 100 reports of sexual assault -- only seven of which were actually investigated, the task force intended to look into the university's current sexual assault investigation protocol and propose possible changes.
Ritter to release FY10 state budget

As Colorado braces itself for Gov. Bill Ritter's release of the 2010-2011 state budget today, university and state officials said they are focused on cushioning the cuts higher education is projected to face. In the 2009-2010 fiscal year, Colorado higher education faced nearly $500 million in cuts, which kept the state ranked 49th in the nation for funding.

CSU ended its partnership this week with its developer for its plan to build a wind farm north of Fort Collins, which was part of an environmentally friendly initiative intended to completely delete the university's carbon footprint. The project, which was announced by former university President Larry Penley at his annual state of the university speech the year before last, has long been touted at CSU as an initiative that would further CSU's image as "the green university.
