In a move that will save the university approximately $150,000 annually and is hoped to streamline its administrative structure, CSU President Tony Frank consolidated two vice presidential positions into one, he said Monday.

The change, which combined the positions of senior vice president for Administrative Services and vice president for Finance into one new position dubbed vice president of University Operations, marks a palpable shift in administrative leadership that has worked to re-route funding cuts away from academics rather than bolstering its own financing.

This week the athletic department saw coaching changes in both volleyball and women' soccer.

Garden City Community College volleyball coach Nikola Petrovic has resigned after a 4-24 record on the season. The 2009 season included a 15 game losing streak and nine players either quitting or being dismissed form the team.

On his 34th birthday -- four days before his health insurance package took effect -- Jason Bush was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

CSU's graduate student health insurance would not cover the rapid series of tests and a surgery to try and remove the cancer, leaving Bush with extensive debt.
